Starting soon at Google. I know most of the knowledge I'll need there will be about internal tools and tech which I can't know beforehand but assuming I am only good at LC due to which I got the job what can I do to make my chances of survival and performing well there better?

I have more than a week worth of break between my two jobs. I really feel like an imposter and want to learn something important.

I have unlimited udemy acess. Is it worth getting more knowledge of AWS, sql, python or Linux, shell scripting etc?

I know Java and C++. I also know concepts like scalability, distributed systems, databases, microservices etc only in theory.
Was also thinking of going over Designing data intensive applications by Martin Kleppman.

I have 3.5 yoe but haven't worked on anything major yet. Just legacy monolithic Java tech stack.
Thanks in advance.

If you have time, maybe try to learn about dependency injection basics. Maybe take a class or two on tech writing skills, you’ll be writing design docs.

When you start you’ll learn many people have imposture syndrome feelings but there are resources like memegen posts about it to make you laugh (my favorite: “I always have imposture syndrome during perf season. I have it during the rest of the year too, but also during perf season”). There is the blue dot community if you need to just talk to someone. And I’m telling you from experience: the culture at Google is generally really nice, people are very kind. I have been here several years and only seen one person fired and that was because he had an anger issue and would yell, made the wrong people uncomfortable.

Relax, you will be just fine. Just remember, there is a reason why you were hired. You’re there for your potential. You will learn everything you need for the job on the job. PS: Congrats!
